Charterama opens office in Hong Kong

Charterama is delighted to announce the launch of Charterama Asia Pacific Limited, Hong Kong with effect from 1st April 2014. This is a strategic development in developing Charterama’s reach into the growing Asian market.

The Hong Kong office will be headed by Powan Li, who has previously held senior underwriting positions both within Skuld and Norwegian Hull Club. The Hong Kong office will be a local presence continuing to deliver service to the Asian brokers and clients. Supported by a strong partnership with leading marine insurer RSA, this move will leverage an already strong Asian presence for both parties.

Lucien Lesuis, co-founder of Charterama commented “In our fifth successful year, we are delighted to be expanding our Asian operations. The appointment of Powan Li is a real coup for us as we continue to be the logical alternative to P&I Clubs. We are proud to be working with such an experienced and skilled professional as Powan Li”. Lesuis continued, “This marks a natural next step for us in our ambition to be the leading, specialist underwriters in Charterers’ Liability.”

On her appointment, Powan Li commented: “I am delighted to have the opportunity to work for Charterama, and humbly hope that this will contribute to the future business development of Charterama.”
